Dr Helen Laycock is consultant in paediatric anaesthesia and pain medicine and the clinical lead for pain at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. She is an editor of Anaesthesia.
Helen completed a CCT in Anaesthesia in 2019 having trained within the Imperial School of Anaesthesia (London Deanery). This included a two year Advanced Fellowship in Pain Medicine and Clinical Lectureship at Imperial College, Chelsea and Westminster Campus and she completed a 2 year post CCT fellowship in Paediatric Pain and Anaesthetics at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Helen studied medicine at Imperial College, London. She was awarded an Imperial College Welcome Research Fellowship (2013-2017) completing her PhD in somatosensory and metabolic profiling of experimental burn injury associated pain models. She conducted post-doctoral research deep phenotyping of diabetic neuropathy. Her current research interests include paediatric pain management (in patient and chronic), paediatric neuropathic pain and quantitative sensory testing in children.
