Join us for an early bird swim at the Tinside Lido from 7am-8am Friday 12th June

For possibly the perfect refreshing and reinvigorating start to the second day of the conference join us for a swim in Plymouth’s iconic outdoor saltwater swimming pool.

The Tinside Lido is a historic art deco pool situated on the edge of the Plymouth Hoe within only a few minutes walk from the conference venue, and overlooking the waters of Plymouth Sound.

The pool is open to the public on Fridays from 6.30am, and members of the local organising team will be at the pool reception from 7 and down on the poolside / in the pool from 7.15 to about 8am.  The lido cafe opens at 8 for a warming coffee, leaving a bit of time to be back at the venue for registration from 8.30.

Some other practical info:

  • The pool is not heated

  • There are showers and changing cubicles in the changing area, facilities are fairly basic

  • The pool is lifeguarded

  • Prices are listed on the website

  • The website does suggest booking, which can be done online but at this time of the morning it shouldn't be necessary.

Conference Dinner - Thursday 11th June from 7:00pm

The conference dinner will take place at the Royal Marines Stonehouse Barracks on Thursday 11th June from 7:00pm. The Stonehouse Barracks is the home of the UK Commando Force and referred to by commandos as 'the spiritual home of the Royal Marines'.

The Military Master of Ceremonies will welcome you to a drinks reception, followed by 3 course meal, wine, a port toast and after dinner entertainment. This is a unique opportunity to experience formal military protocol and traditions that you are unlikely to experience anywhere else. There will be plenty of time to network and chat with other delegates and speakers throughout the evening.
